About the Sweat Lodge
John Wife will be guiding us through the sweatlodge at his farm in Gidgiganup (we will car pool there). He has a connection with native American philosophy and traditions as well as the vedic practices of Agnihotra. John runs monthly full moon drumming circles, drum making workshops and sweatlodges. There is room for 12 people. Attendance is optional. Please indicate whether you would like to attend on the registration form.
A sweat lodge is a traditional native American ceremony to prepare and cleanse for a healing experience. It is performed in a small canvas tent, with a fire pit in the middle and space for people to sit around the inside edge. Hot stones are brought in each round and water is splashed over them to create steam – like a moist sauna. There may be chanting, singing, meditation. You may leave at any time.
