Diet and Nutrition

Daily Health Creation

Research has discovered 50 essential factors for human health including 21 minerals, 13 Vitamins, 8 amino acids ( 10 for kids) and 2 essential fatty acids (omega 3 and 6).

We also need a source of energy (glucose), water, oxygen, light, physical activity, rest, positive emotional and mental states, a good lifestyle and environment. Other factors include fibre, friendly bacteria, proper levels of hydrochloric acid, bile and enzymes.

Diet

Eat organically produced or grown foods, particularly animal products. This will decrease your toxic exposure to pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, colouring agents and antibiotics. These toxins build up in your system, particularly in fat cells and can disrupt you own hormone balance, body metabolism and gut flora. Organically produced foods are friendly to the environment and are grown in soil supported naturally with all the nutrition required for the health of both you and the plant.

Drink pure filtered water.

Tap water has been treated with chlorine and fluoride and contains many other heavy metals and contaminants that can interfere with with mineral metabolism and liver function. Filtered water tastes better and so it is very easy to keep yourself hydrated with the recommended 8 glasses a day. Caution: avoid water kept in plastic bottles and left in the sun.

 Cautions:

When eating always take your time, sit down, relax, chew thoroughly and enjoy your food.

Never eat when upset or rushing around.

Try not to drink hot or cold drinks half an hour before or 1 hour after food as this dilutes the digestive enzymes and changes the stomach temperature, which needs to be 37 degrees for enzymes to work.

Don’t over eat, try eating 5 smaller meals a day, always eat a quality protein with each meal.

Remember it is what you do 90% of the time that matters, allow yourself a treat and don’t be hard on yourself if you do the wrong thing.

Supplements

Even if you are eating a fully organic and balanced diet, you most likely still need some nutritional supplementation for optimal health and long life. This is because the environment we live in, the air we breath, the lifestyle we live and many other factors, all require the essential nutrients to detoxify and protect us and most of our nutrition now goes to this purpose, leaving cells deficient for all their important functions.

Seek Professional Advice

So to ensure your health, even if you feel healthy take a multi vitamin and mineral supplement and an antioxidant formula at least. If you have health problems the best idea is to get professional advice as to what nutrition is required to correct the problem. This is where herbal medicine, homoeopathy, aromatherapy etcetera come into the picture.

Exercise

30-45 minutes 3-5 times a week of vigorous exercise (ie get a sweat up and your heart racing). Try a team sport, the gym, yoga, martial arts, swimming.

Meditation/relaxation

All this means is take a little time each day for your mind to rest, tune into your body, recognise and release the stresses and strains of the day, appreciate the good things in your life or just do absolutely nothing. This does not mean turn on the telly and tune out!

Attitude

We know we can translate thought into action. Thoughts are conducted by electricity and many chemical messagers to create a physical response in the body, and so all our thoughts have a chemical and electrical effect on our body and also on our environment and those around us.

Avoid Negativity

A negative thought or emotion, especially if repeated regularly will manifest physical change within the body and is often the base cause of many acute and chronic illnesses. A negative thought may also attract negative people or experiences. So a positive attitude is an essential part to living long and healthy and especially happy lives.

Virus Blocking

It has been discovered that the entry point for viruses into cells is the same receptor site as for happy chemicals and so when you are feeling happy you block a viruses ability to enter and infect a cell.

Affirmations and Visualisations

Use affirmations and visualisations to create what you want in your life, smile as much as possible, be kind to yourself and others and see every challenge in your life as a way of making yourself stronger.
